It was a warm spring night in downtown Baltimore. In between the seemingly endless stretch of boarded up homes and disgruntled crack addicts, a breath of fresh rave swept over the Inner Harbor. Curious EDM enthusiasts assembled to “Power Plant Live!” for hopes of a Thirsty Thursrave. And to everyone’s satisfaction, Laidback Luke brought the bass.
The party ignited immediately once the doors opened at 9:00. Opening DJs Lock Danan, DJ Who, and GTA spent time entertaining the crowd with a collection of admirable performances. Since no one actually came for any of these scrubs, someone smart decided to throw some dancing babes on stage to keep the bros interested. It worked; these hoes worked it like they were on David Beckham’s pole. Chubs galore.

Power Plant Live in downtown Baltimore was a great host for Laidback Luke and friends
Power Plant does a great job of creating an intense atmosphere for these shows. While the venue is primarily a collection of small bars, Power Plant constructs a baller outdoor concert stage that is perfect for warm nights como anoche. Although the crowd didn’t consist of your typical rave characters, none of the bros complained about the array of beautiful women present in their typical “I wanna get railed tonight” outfits. Pitbull would have had a blast.
The vibe was electric by the time Laidback Luke took the stage. Fans were psyched to see him whip out hits like “Speak Up”, “Show Me Love”, and of course… “Turbulence”. Lil John’s vocals were left out of the track last night, but somehow the ladies and gentlemen of Flight 909 still knew to raise their hands higher and higher (“like you’re on a rolla costa”). What a rush!
Overall, a pretty solid event. Not as many informed fans as you’d like to see at a show like this, but then again, hot sluts don’t have to be smart.
Overall DJ Performance (Lock Danan, DJ Who, GTA, and Laidback Luke): B+

Brendan (aka BIKE SQUAD) was brought into this world by two loving parents in 1987. Bike Squad spent the toddler phase of his life in beautiful White Plains, New York, where the joyful troublemaker spent his days venturing into the big city and relishing his youth at Old Yankee Stadium. It was a simple time for young Bike Squad… but soon all that would change. A series of ongoing threats from a local Bronx gang put the youngster’s beloved family at risk, and so with a heavy heart, the family packed their things and moved to sunny Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
West Philadelphia not born but raised, Bike Squad took on a new lifestyle of helping others and acquiring currency. It was during his time in Philly that Bike Squad began pursuing his true passion: expressing his thoughts and experiences through writing. With a surprising combination of sensible literacy and witty humor, Bike Squad soon found himself immersed into a local scene of both creative writing and introspective music. It wasn’t long before his passions began to merge as one.
After graduating from High School, the young Bike Squad left Philadelphia and traveled across the globe. He found true love and heartbreak, experimented with his mind and body, and formed relationships to last a lifetime. After four amazing years at Penn State University, two crazy years in the hood of Baltimore, and a stint in the barrios of Alicante, Spain that challenged the literal boundaries of human consumption… Bike Squad returned home and settled down once again in the greatest city in the world: New York, New York. One faithful wintery evening in late February 2012, Bike Squad officially co-created and launched TheDro Magazine to further share his experiences and pursue his passions.
Once a boy with a dream, now a man with a purpose… Bike Squad currently spends his days exploring the infinite NYC social scene, continuing to pursue his passions, and contributing to TheDro Magazine.
